The Campus Public Safety (CPS) Supervisor, Liaison oversees the day-to-day delivery of SFU’s frontline community safety, asset protection, and emergency response services, supporting a safe, secure, and resilient campus environment. Working closely with the senior CPS Supervisors and CPS leadership team, the Liaison roles ensure consistency in service excellence and stakeholder trust within each of the SFU Vancouver and SFU Surrey campuses, leading on campus responses to complex or high-risk incidents, including medical emergencies, persons in distress, suspicious activity, and all-hazards events, while ensuring a professional, person-centred approach aligned with University policy, legislation, and best practices. About the Role Acting as a senior first responder, Incident Commander, and investigator, the CPS Supervisor serves as an essential initial point of contact, determining immediate resourcing needs, initiating transitional care referrals, and identifying immediate risk mitigation measures. The role liaises with myriad internal and external partners and provides mentorship to contract security personnel and student safety staff, while contributing to community safety initiatives across their assigned SFU campus. We are looking for a conscientious, engaged professional experienced working in regulatory environments and with individuals across the life span, including those with complex needs. The ideal candidate is a principled and pragmatic leader who naturally engages respectfully, empathetically and professionally with all members of a diverse community. Full Job Description Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences, Health Sciences or a Public Safety field four years of related experience in an operational public safety, community safety, or security role, in a Canadian public sector environment or other large multi-jurisdictional organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Excellent knowledge of investigation standards and procedures, emergency preparedness and response approaches, personal safety considerations, security infrastructure systems utility (access controls, alarms and closed-circuit television), and traffic, pedestrian and road safety. Experience conducting investigations, including identifying, gathering and securing evidence, authoring investigation reports and readying supplementary documents in an admissible fashion. Proven understanding and commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive and compassionate service delivery, and alignment with SFU’s commitments to truth and reconciliation marked by formal Indigenous cultural safety education, training and practices. Experience working with individuals across the life span, including those with complex needs, and the ability to engage respectfully, empathetically and professionally with all members of a diverse community. Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff and/or contract security personnel within a hybrid model. Excellent understanding of public safety related Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and Criminal Code statutes, by-laws, regulations, and/or policies; ability to develop excellent knowledge and understanding of University Act, SFU Policies and CPS standards. View our benefits brochure *Prorated for part-time employees Additional Information SFU Campus Public Safety is hiring for two new embedded Liaison positions, one assigned to the SFU Vancouver campus, and one assigned to the SFU Surrey campus. Day-to-day and after-hours operational support for each is provided by the senior CPS Supervisor positions based on the Burnaby, BC campus. All CPS Supervisor and CPS Supervisor Liaison positions are considered essential service positions of trust, and may regularly require emergency on-call, or non-standard working hours to support large-scale events or emergent operational demands. Approved overtime is required in exigent circumstances. Ability to maintain a valid BC Security Workers License and clear CRC, including Vulnerable Sector check, is required for these positions. The position will be primarily located at the Vancouver campus and may be required to work at other SFU campuses from time to time. Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and possess at least four years of operational experience in public safety or security. Proficiency in investigation standards, emergency preparedness, and trauma-informed service delivery is required, along with the ability to obtain a BC Security Workers License.
