Job Posting Firewood Program Labourer (Project-Term) Located in the North Thompson Valley, Simpcw Resources Group (“SRG”) is a fully-owned Indigenous business dedicated to creating sustainable economic opportunities within the Simpcw’ulécw (Simpcw Territory). Simpcw Resources Group is seeking a motivated and dependable Firewood Program Labourer to support the delivery of our Firewood Program and related land-based operations. This is a project-term position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2027, offering hands-on experience in firewood production, site maintenance, and forestry-related activities. The successful candidate enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable performing physically demanding work, and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications: Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract. Ability to work safely and effectively in outdoor environments and all weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work. Experience operating a chainsaw is considered an asset. Experience using wood processing equipment is considered an asset. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong awareness of workplace safety practices and hazard identification. First Aid certification is considered an asset. Willingness to complete required training programs. Training Provided In-house chainsaw safety training will be provided prior to operating a chainsaw. In-house First Aid training will be provided. Physical Demands of the Role Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential physical requirements of the position, including: Performing sustained manual labour outdoors for extended periods. Repetitive lifting, carrying, stacking, and moving firewood and equipment. Walking and working on uneven terrain, forested areas, and outdoor work sites. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and twisting. Using hand tools and power equipment safely and efficiently. In this role you will: Operate a chainsaw safely following company procedures and training requirements. Cut firewood to required specifications. Buck, split, stack, bundle, and prepare firewood for delivery. Assist with loading and unloading firewood orders. Schedule and assist with disposing of unusable wood materials. Clean and maintain work areas following wood-cutting activities. Organize and manage firewood inventory and storage areas. Assist with brushing, clearing, and trail maintenance activities. Operate equipment and vehicles as required and authorized. Perform yard maintenance, seasonal snow removal, and general site clean-up activities. Assist with maintenance and repair projects on company-owned facilities and properties. Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures. Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. What’s in it for you? Competitive wage: $30.00 per hour.
