Share Share Email Post Share Job Overview We are recruiting a 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice Heavy Duty Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience working with on-highway heavy-duty vehicles and a strong interest in developing their skills and progressing in the trade. This position is suited for an apprentice who has a solid mechanical foundation and is looking to continue building their experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance and repair. Experience with CVIP repairs, light-duty trucks, electrical systems, welding, and general mechanical troubleshooting is considered an asset. Responsibilities Assist with the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of on-highway heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and general mechanical repairs under the direction of experienced technicians. Assist with CVIP inspections and repairs, ensuring vehicles meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools and equipment. Assist with repairs to engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension, steering, braking, and other vehicle systems. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Assist with welding and fabrication-related mechanical repairs as required. Complete inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety concerns. Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively. Follow established maintenance procedures, processes, and manufacturer specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, and team members. Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Continue developing technical knowledge and skills through hands-on experience and training. Perform other duties as required. Requirements Currently registered as a 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Duty Technician Apprentice. Previous hands-on experience working with on-highway heavy-duty trucks is required. Experience with CVIP repairs is considered a strong asset. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of heavy-duty vehicle systems. Basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability. Experience working on light-duty trucks is an asset. Must have a full selection of appropriate small hand tools required for the trade. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to continue learning and developing within the trade. Ability to listen to and follow established procedures, processes, and instructions. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Punctual, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks. Must be willing to learn, take direction, and grow within the trade. Valid driver's licence is an asset. Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, including cannabis. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
