We are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Technical Editor, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. Role In this position, you’ll work alongside our technical staff to prepare and deliver technical reports and other documentation for various projects across the organization, in accordance with the specific scope. You will review, proofread, edit, and assemble various technical documents into readable, concise, and professionally formatted documents. Success in this role will require very strong proofreading and writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also need to be highly collaborative in your work and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, across various provinces, countries, and time zones. This role is based in Victoria, BC, with flexible work options. Responsibilities Proofread and edit technical reports and other technical documentation for correct grammar, consistency in “voice,” and to match house style. Format large, complex documents using MS Word and Excel, and publish complete reports using Adobe Acrobat, including inserting graphics and tables into a final .pdf document. Prepare/update report templates. Work together with the Documentation Lead to ensure consistency and timely production and delivery of reports. The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location. Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Qualifications/Education/Memberships Bachelor’s degree in English or journalism, and/or a combination of formal training and 5 or more years of experience in a similar role will be considered. Ideally, at least one year of experience as a technical or grammatical editor within STEM fields. Legal editing experience is also an asset. Co-op experience will be considered. Superior written communication skills – a sample of your previous work and/or skill testing may be required. Strong proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to multi- task and prioritize multiple competing priorities. Proactive, self-driven, and results oriented work ethic.
