Role Description The Modular Building Purchaser is a full-time, on-site role based in Thunder Bay, ON. This role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services required for modular building projects, ensuring quality standards and cost-effectiveness. Day-to-day tasks include obtaining and evaluating supplier quotes, negotiating pricing and contracts, issuing purchase orders, and maintaining accurate procurement records. The Modular Building Purchaser collaborates closely with project managers, designers, and production teams to forecast material needs, align deliveries with project timelines, and resolve supply issues. The role also involves monitoring vendor performance, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and contributing to continuous improvement in procurement processes. Qualifications Experience in purchasing or procurement within construction, manufacturing, or modular building environments. Strong skills in supplier sourcing, quote evaluation, and contract negotiation. Ability to manage purchase orders, track inventory levels, and coordinate delivery schedules. Proficiency with procurement or ERP software and standard office applications (e.g., spreadsheets, databases). Solid understanding of building materials, construction components, and modular assembly processes. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers. Post-secondary education in supply chain management, business, construction management, or a related field is an asset. Relevant certifications (e.g., supply chain or purchasing designations) and prior experience in Canadian construction markets are beneficial.
