The Content & Communications Specialist is a creative marketing professional responsible for developing compelling content that strengthens brand awareness, engages target audiences, and supports business growth across Smartrend Manufacturing Group (SMG) and First Light Safety Products (FLSP). This role strategizes, creates, publishes and reports on content across social media, websites, email campaigns, industry publications, marketing materials, press releases, media relations, product announcements and recruitment marketing. Working closely with Sales, Product, HR and other internal teams, the Content & Communications Specialist translates technical information, product knowledge and business priorities into clear, engaging content for our customers and audiences. The successful candidate is a strong writer and communicator with experience in social media, content marketing and corporate communications. They bring creativity, attention to detail and the ability to understand our products and markets and turn that knowledge into meaningful, effective content WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW At Smartrend Manufacturing Group (SMG), we design and manufacture technologies that solve real-world challenges, and we're growing fast. WHAT YOU'LL DO Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with marketing, sales, product, HR and leadership teams to extract effective, accurate content and newsworthy stories from within and outside the organization. Content Planning & Scheduling: Plan and schedule high-quality content aligned with messaging guidelines and lead generation goals while maintaining consistency Multi-Channel Writing & Editing: Write, edit, and proofread targeted marketing content across all channels, supporting marketing and corporate objectives for SMG and First Light Safety Products Brand Consistency: Work closely with the marketing team, including graphic designers to develop all assets to ensure rigorous consistency, accuracy, and alignment A Diverse Role at a Growing Organization: Contribute proactively to additional marketing projects, agile initiatives, and special assignments as needed WHAT YOU BRING Degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business Administration, or equivalent experience 4+ years of experience in related fields Strong copywriting skills with a focus on engaging, story-driven content Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical Clear, professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills Self-motivated and results-driven, with a strong work ethic, creativity, and ability to manage multiple priorities Demonstrated ability to transform data and information into clear and persuasive content Experienced in developing content strategies with tailored messaging for segmented audiences Knowledge of photography and video production considered an asset Ability to travel within Canada and the United States WORKING AT SMG Growth creates opportunity, and we’re investing in the workplace, technology, and talent that will shape our future.
