SMS Equipment is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to support our construction equipment operations. In this role, you’ll put your expertise to work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Location: Red Deer, AB Schedule: 5x2 shift rotation What You’ll Do * Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment using advanced troubleshooting tools * Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, and equipment overhauls * Complete accurate service reports, timecards, and maintenance documentation * Safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces as required What You Bring The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (off-road). Other requirements include: * Proven shop and/or field experience with heavy equipment repairs and diagnostics * A strong commitment to safety and clear, professional communication skills * Valid Class 5/G driver’s license * Willingness to travel and meet customer site access requirements * Red Seal certification and experience with Komatsu equipment are considered strong assets This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
