Job summary

🌐 Location: Remote (Canada) 💼 Terms: FT Permanent 💸 Compensation: $100k – $150k CAD + Equity About Us Softdrive is a VC-backed startup putting the PC into the cloud. Our mission is to enable incredible computer interaction, prioritizing end user-experience over all else. We’re solving the pains of legacy VDI without the complexity or cost that has defined the industry for decades. Our solution is 5x faster, 50% less expensive, and deploys 80% faster than legacy industry players. We deliver the lowest total cost of ownership in the market, handle GPU- and CPU-intensive workloads at scale, and eliminate the burden of physical hardware. We build and stream VMs to any device, across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, so teams can stay productive from anywhere without being constrained by their hardware. We’re proud to build in partnership with Oracle, NVIDIA, and Autodesk. Joining Softdrive means working on hard infrastructure problems that actually matter, at a company early enough that your work shapes the product, the team, and the culture. We move fast, operate with high ownership, and are building something the industry's biggest players haven't been able to crack. About the Role Softdrive is building out its Marketing function from the ground up as we grow our presence in the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and End-User Computing space. We're looking for a Content Writer to own the words that explain why Softdrive wins: translating dense VDI/EUC and infrastructure concepts into clear, compelling writing that moves IT decision-makers from "never heard of Softdrive" to "talking to sales." You'll work closely with the CEO, Digital Marketing, and Customer Success to build the narrative around our core wedge: helping organizations move off costly, complex legacy virtual desktop infrastructure, and to write the mid-funnel content that supports our sales motion. This is a hands-on, mostly solo writing role at an early-stage company: you'll shape the content strategy, but the job is producing great writing yourself, day to day. This role starts as a hands-on writing role — you'll own execution first. As you build a track record with our content and audience, we expect this to grow into owning content strategy end-to-end, including planning, prioritization, and eventually building out the function. Key Responsibilities Write technical and narrative content, including blog posts, whitepapers, comparison guides, and case studies, that translates VDI/EUC concepts and Softdrive's differentiators for IT and enterprise buyers Write content that makes the total cost and complexity of legacy VDI tangible, and why organizations are reevaluating their virtual desktop strategy Write mid-funnel content in partnership with Sales: sales enablement collateral, competitive positioning, and ROI/TCO materials Write customer case studies and proof points in partnership with Customer Success Maintain a content calendar spanning blog, LinkedIn, email nurture, and partner co-marketing Apply SEO best practices to organic content As the role matures, take ownership of overall content strategy — planning, channel prioritization, and roadmap — not just execution About You Requirements & Qualifications 5–10 years as a professional writer/editor in B2B tech, ideally enterprise SaaS, cloud, or IT infrastructure — a portfolio of published long-form work is essential Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts (networking, virtualization, cloud infrastructure) into clear, compelling writing for technical and business audiences Strong independent research and interviewing skills — able to sit with an SME or a customer and turn that conversation into a case study or whitepaper Self-starter who can own a content function independently at an early-stage startup, without a large marketing team around them Familiarity with VDI, DaaS, EUC, or adjacent infrastructure/cloud categories Experience writing for IT or security decision-makers, or within a channel-partner GTM motion Interest in eventually owning content strategy, not just execution — you think about narrative and channel fit, not just individual pieces (preferred, not required) Experience with SEO and content-ops tooling (preferred, not required) Early-stage startup experience
