OVERVIEW SPIN VFX Toronto is looking for a full-time Contract HR Manager for a 12-month term to join our award-winning team. This role serves as Maternity Leave coverage. Our dynamic studio brings together top-tier VFX artists, producers, and technical support staff to create visual effects magic for feature films and episodic productions. In this role, you will deliver hands-on generalist HR expertise across sourcing and recruitment, performance management, communications, administration, onboarding, and offboarding. The position requires professional integrity, the ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments, and reports directly to the CEO. RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide HR expertise, leadership, and guidance to the HR team * Define and implement the studio's HR processes, policies and guidelines. * Collaborate with the Production and Resources Team to review and establish talent acquisition objectives and priorities. * Ensure Job descriptions are up to date and align with the assigned roles * Maintain and assist in revising Company Handbook on Policies and Procedures and implement the studio's HR processes, policies, and guidelines. * Ensure job descriptions, candidate specifications, offers and compensation guidelines are agreed to. * Review applicant CV?s and demo reels and Candidates? eligibility prior to interviews * Participate in interviews and manage the selection process. * Issue offer emails, negotiate salaries, and extend Employment Agreement letters to selected candidates, ensuring all terms are communicated transparently. * Work closely with the Executive Producer on Performance management and provide required information pertaining to employee status updates. * Ensure consistent communication between department heads and staff, and manage any emerging matters through appropriate channels until resolved. * Facilitate appropriate relocation agreements if necessary. * Communicate information on new hires to the Payroll department * Be the first point of contact for employees, assisting with HR-related inquiries, providing guidance on policies and procedures, escalating issues when appropriate. * Process Terminations and exit interviews. * Provide studio introductions, orientations and lead on-boarding of new staff * Encourage and support a positive environment with the departments and management as well as between the artists and supervisors. * Actively participate in planning sessions related to staff engagement. REQUIREMENTS * At least 5 years of experience in HR Management role * Proven expertise in talent acquisition, specifically in sourcing and fostering candidate engagement. * Strong background in conducting interviews, evaluating candidates, and providing informed hiring recommendations. * Skilled in negotiating salary packages and offer terms according to industry benchmarks and internal company standards. * Extensive understanding of Canadian immigration rules, HRDC legislation, and standard hiring policies. * In-depth knowledge of leave administration, including vacation and time-off policies, ensuring consistent compliance. * Demonstrated leadership capabilities paired with professional written and verbal communication skills. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Google Suite. * Prior experience with the rollout and management of HR Information Systems (HRIS) is highly desirable. * Familiarity with various VFX roles and artistic disciplines is considered a significant asset. _If you meet these requirements, please send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]. Hybrid/onsite expectations to be discussed during the interview process. Compensation: $75,000 ? $85,000 CAD annually (based on experience and seniority).
