Role Description The Safety Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role located in Brigden, ON, responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across SCM’s fabrication shops, field operations, and mobile teams. This role involves conducting regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits, and ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations and company policies. The Safety Coordinator will develop, deliver, and update safety training programs, toolbox talks, and orientation sessions for team members and subcontractors. Day-to-day tasks include investigating incidents and near misses, preparing reports, tracking corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) performance. The role also collaborates with project managers and supervisors to integrate safety into project planning, participates in safety meetings, maintains safety documentation, and supports emergency response and preparedness activities. Qualifications Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health principles, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements and industry best practices in a construction and industrial environment. Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) program development, implementation, and monitoring, including risk assessments and safety performance metrics. Proficiency in Safety Training delivery, including creating training materials, conducting orientations and toolbox talks, and coaching team members on safe work practices. Hands-on experience in Accident Investigation, including root cause analysis, incident reporting, and development of corrective and preventive actions. Relevant post-secondary education in occupational health and safety or a related field, or equivalent experience; recognized safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, or similar) are an asset. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage team members at all levels and promote a positive safety culture.
