The program is committed to change and innovation through education service and research to bring the highest quality science into health care for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science. Position Summary This position reports to the Core Laboratory Manager The Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist performs a variety of Laboratory tests and duties in accordance with HRLMP policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to: Scheduling monitoring workflow reassigning staff as necessary to meet turnaround times Operating and maintaining equipment including recognizing and troubleshooting failures taking corrective action and ensuring proper documentation Maintaining all external QA activities within the department Designing and coordinating implementation of new methodology/technology and necessary validation as per guidelines Acts as a key resource to technical staff laboratory manager and medical staff on technical operation and theory of testing and results Teaching of Residents from a variety of disciplines and MLT students Qualifications Medical Laboratory Technologist Certification (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences) Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) Current (minimum 3 years) experience in Core Laboratory – Hematology and Chemistry Extensive knowledge and advanced technical expertise in Core Lab including related Quantitative Quality Control Experience in instrument validation A.R.T. in Chemistry B.Sc. or Bachelor of Technology degree Demonstrated excellence in all aspects of communication Demonstrated evidence of leadership skills and issue management Demonstrated evidence of organizational and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to work in and foster a team environment Demonstrated commitment to continuing education High degree of Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Demonstrated knowledge of IQMH requirements – Quality Management System #SJHHjobs St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) and its member organizations are equal opportunity employers and strives for equity, inclusiveness, and diversity in all programs, practices, facilities, and people.
