Job summary
Stafingo is hiring an experienced IT Project Manager for a professional public-sector client in Canada. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior project management professional to lead complex, high-impact capital IT initiatives from initiation through implementation, operational startup, and closeout. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing end-to-end project leadership, governance, scheduling, budget oversight, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, vendor coordination, implementation support, and transition planning. The role will involve coordinating closely related technology initiatives and ensuring that activities, dependencies, stakeholders, timelines, and operational outcomes remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle. Position Details Job Title: IT Project Manager – Capital IT Projects Employment Type: Contract Location: Remote within Canada Start Date: October 1st, 2026 End Date: March 31st, 2027 Extension: Option to extend for an additional 12 months Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Pay Range: $80/hr T4 – $100/hr Incorporated Background Check: Basic Background Check Submission Requirements: Resume and responses to the Proposed Approach / Understanding of Work questions About the Role : The IT Project Manager will lead complex capital technology projects involving significant data migration, enterprise technology implementation, multiple stakeholder groups, and operational transition. The successful candidate will establish project governance, define objectives and deliverables, develop and maintain detailed project schedules, manage dependencies and critical paths, monitor budgets and resources, and ensure projects remain aligned with approved scope, cost, schedule, and performance expectations. This position requires an experienced leader who can work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, project sponsors, and other project managers. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing competing priorities, resolving complex issues, communicating project status to leadership, and adapting project plans when requirements or circumstances change. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Governance : Lead projects through initiation, planning, development, implementation, operational startup, transition, and closeout. Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, milestones, governance structures, and success criteria. Establish project team composition, roles, responsibilities, reporting structures, and terms of reference. Ensure appropriate resources are available to support project delivery. Establish and maintain project governance and project management practices. Ensure project activities remain within approved time, cost, scope, and performance parameters. Coordinate multiple interconnected initiatives and ensure alignment across project streams. Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and schedules. Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS). Identify project dependencies, milestones, constraints, and critical path activities. Conduct critical path analysis and identify potential schedule impacts. Coordinate schedules across internal teams, external stakeholders, vendors, and project partners. Monitor progress against approved schedules and implement corrective actions where required. Develop appropriate project charts, tables, diagrams, and other planning materials to support project analysis and decision-making. Budget & Resource Management Support and monitor project budget requirements. Identify resource requirements and coordinate resource availability. Track project expenditures and resource utilization against approved plans. Escalate budget, resource, and capacity concerns appropriately. Ensure project resources are aligned with approved priorities and delivery milestones. Risk, Issue & Change Management Identify, assess, document, and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigation and contingency strategies for significant project risks. Analyze complex project problems and formulate practical solutions. Establish processes for managing project changes and change requests. Assess the impact of proposed changes on scope, schedule, budget, resources, dependencies, and deliverables. Escalate significant risks, issues, and decisions to appropriate governance bodies. Track issues through resolution and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up. Stakeholder & Vendor Management Engage with stakeholders from a variety of professional, technical, and organizational backgrounds. Facilitate meetings and discussions to identify requirements, issues, dependencies, and decisions. Translate complex project issues into clear, actionable information for stakeholders and leadership. Coordinate activities with vendors, external partners, internal technology teams, and business groups. Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Resolve conflicting priorities and facilitate consensus where appropriate. Coordinate with other project managers where initiatives have shared dependencies or outcomes. Reporting & Communication Provide regular project status reports to project leadership and stakeholders. Track project progress, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and action items. Prepare executive-level and project-level reporting as required. Clearly communicate schedule and dependency concerns. Present recommendations and alternative solutions to project stakeholders. Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the engagement. Implementation & Transition Support implementation planning and execution. Coordinate activities required to move solutions into operational environments. Ensure implementation activities are aligned with project schedules and operational requirements. Support operational startup and transition planning. Coordinate project handover and closeout activities. Ensure project deliverables are completed, accepted, documented, and formally signed off. Mandatory Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate the following: Valid PMP certification in good standing. At least 5 years of experience coordinating complex projects involving large-scale data migrations in a Project Manager capacity. At least 2 years of experience working with the Canadian Government. At least 3 years of experience working with large stakeholder groups representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives. At least 2 years of experience implementing Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software. Desirable Experience The following experience will be considered an asset: Experience working with 911 dispatching centres and systems. Experience with medivac dispatching. Experience implementing telephony systems, particularly within emergency response or dispatch environments. Experience managing interconnected technology projects with significant operational dependencies. Experience working in public-sector or government project environments. Experience managing enterprise technology implementations involving multiple vendors and stakeholder groups. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a senior IT Project Manager who combines strong formal project management practices with hands-on experience delivering complex technology initiatives. You should be comfortable managing large stakeholder groups, coordinating technical and business teams, maintaining detailed schedules, managing risks and issues, and providing clear reporting to senior leadership.
