Senior System Testing / QA Specialist – Healthcare Technology-GTA Engagement Details : Position: Senior System Testing / QA Specialist Employment Type: Contract Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario Work Arrangement: Hybrid; onsite requirements may vary based on project needs Contract Duration: 1 year Initial contract with potential extension Industry: Healthcare Technology / Digital Health Compensation: $60 -$75 per hour (depending on skills and experience) We are seeking an experienced Senior System Testing / QA Specialist to join a large-scale healthcare technology initiative focused on modernizing clinical data exchange, interoperability, and cloud-based healthcare platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, automating, executing, and reporting on comprehensive quality assurance and system testing activities across enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, databases, and healthcare data workflows. This is a highly technical QA role requiring strong hands-on experience with UI automation, API testing, database validation, functional/integration testing, and automated test framework development. Experience with HL7 FHIR and/or HL7 is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Analyze business and technical requirements, user stories, business workflows, solution designs, implementation specifications, and data mapping documents to develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automation scripts. Design, develop, implement, maintain, and optimize automated testing frameworks for UI and API testing. Build scalable, reusable automation components and test suites using Selenium or Playwright and modern programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript. Perform functional, system integration, end-to-end, regression, and automated testing across enterprise applications and distributed systems. Design and execute comprehensive REST/SOAP API testing, including payload validation, response validation, authentication, headers, status codes, and backend integration workflows. Use tools such as Postman, REST Assured, ReadyAPI, or equivalent for API validation and automation. Perform database validation and data reconciliation using SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or similar technologies. Validate data integrity across interconnected applications, APIs, databases, and enterprise integrations. Develop and execute test scenarios involving authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth, JWT, SAML, certificates, and related security controls. Create, manage, and validate complex test data required for functional, integration, API, and data validation testing. Where applicable, validate healthcare interoperability data and HL7 FHIR resources and structures, including FHIR profiles, terminology, cardinality, and data quality requirements. Validate data transformations and mappings between healthcare messaging standards and downstream systems. Create and maintain test cases, test scripts, traceability matrices, execution reports, and defect documentation. Log, manage, prioritize, track, and communicate defects using Jira and/or TestRail. Collaborate with QA Leads, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, Infrastructure teams, and external partners throughout the testing lifecycle. Support UAT, release readiness, production deployment, and Go/No-Go decision-making by providing clear testing outcomes, quality risks, and recommendations. Perform testing within an Agile/Scrum delivery environment while supporting DevOps and CI/CD practices. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and work with development and DevOps teams to improve automated quality gates. Troubleshoot test environments, test data, application behaviour, API responses, and integration issues. Contribute to testing effort estimates, test strategies, test execution reporting, and quality risk assessments. Mentor other QA professionals and promote automation standards, reusable frameworks, and continuous testing best practices. Prepare daily and weekly testing status reports and communicate testing progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and recommendations. Support knowledge transfer by documenting automation frameworks, test processes, test results, and technical procedures. Required Qualifications & Experience : 7+ years of enterprise QA/testing experience involving large-scale applications, backend systems, APIs, integrations, databases, and end-to-end workflows. Strong hands-on experience developing UI automation frameworks from the ground up using Selenium or Playwright. Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or another modern programming/scripting language. Advanced experience with REST/SOAP web services and API testing. Hands-on experience with Postman, REST Assured, ReadyAPI, or equivalent API testing tools. Strong understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, XML, JSON, and messaging concepts. Demonstrated experience validating API payloads, backend integrations, data transformations, and end-to-end workflows. Strong database testing and data validation experience using SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or similar technologies. Experience validating data integrity and reconciling data across multiple systems. Experience testing authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth, JWT, SAML, certificates, or similar technologies. Strong functional and system integration testing experience. Experience creating and executing test cases, test scripts, test data, and traceability matrices. Strong defect management experience using Jira and/or TestRail. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Experience with Git and CI/CD tools, such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web application testing. Healthcare / Interoperability Experience – Highly Preferred Candidates with healthcare technology and interoperability experience will be strongly preferred. Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: HL7 FHIR HL7 v2 / v3 FHIR resources and profiles FHIR Implementation Guides FHIR validation and conformance Healthcare data structures and terminology Clinical data exchange Healthcare APIs and interoperability platforms Patient, Practitioner, PractitionerRole, Organization, Location, Encounter, and related FHIR resources Healthcare data mapping and transformation End-to-end clinical data workflows Additional Assets Experience with Microsoft technology ecosystems, including: Microsoft Azure Power BI SharePoint Dynamics 365 Public-sector or highly regulated industry experience is also considered an asset.
