Your Opportunity Stantec’s Community Development team is a recognized leader in land development. Our multi-disciplinary team includes professionals in civil and stormwater engineering, planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and construction management. Together, we deliver projects that shape vibrant, resilient, and sustainable communities. We are looking for a motivated student to join our engineering team for a 16-month internship. You'll gain hands-on experience in both office and field environments, contribute to projects across the Greater Calgary Region, and build technical, problem-solving, and professional skills alongside industry-leading professionals. Your Key Responsibilities As a Civil Engineering Intern, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Construction Observation and Field Support: * Participate in field reviews and on-site construction observation. * Work alongside contractors, surveyors, inspectors, and project teams. * Review engineering drawings and compare them with field conditions and survey information. * Identify issues in the field and support the development of practical solutions. * Communicate construction progress and observations to project teams. * Learn and apply Stantec's safety practices, quality standards, and professional procedures. Design and Technical Support: * Support engineering designs (sanitary, stormwater, water networks, roads, lot grading) drawings, and figures using AutoCAD Civil 3D. * Prepare technical reports, correspondence, memos, and project documentation. * Prepare earthworks cut-and-fill analyses and grading assessments. * Assist with erosion and sediment control plans and reports. * Assist with sound attenuation studies. * Coordinate shallow utilities. * Review survey packages. * Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and professional development opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS Your Capabilities and Credentials * Experience with Microsoft Office suite AutoCAD Civil 3D, PCSWMM, Bluebeam Revu, or similar engineering software is an asset. * Motivated, adaptable learner with a commitment to continuous growth. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Detail-oriented problem solver who applies critical thinking, innovation, and sound professional judgment to deliver high-quality work. * Comfortable working in both office and outdoor field environments. * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with at least three years of post-secondary education complete by May 1, 2027. * Valid Class 5 driver's license required. Education and Experience Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week. Requirements

Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and have completed at least three years of post-secondary education by May 1, 2027, as well as hold a valid Class 5 driver's license. Strong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, adaptability, and comfort working in office and outdoor field settings are required; experience with relevant engineering software is an asset.
