The Team Manager is responsible for the strategy, development, and governance of enterprise application integrations, APIs, and data exchange solutions. They also manage and mentor a team of associates to ensure technical excellence and the successful delivery of business objectives.

Some of what you will do: Utilizing experience from multiple Staples application areas, the Team Manager II role is solely responsible for one specific area of application support and development of Integrations team. This role is accountable for the strategy, development, support, and governance of enterprise application integrations, APIs, and data exchange solutions that enable seamless connectivity across Stores, Payments, Data, Supply Chain, Digital, and third-party platforms. Specifically, You Will: Manage and Develop Associates (40%) * Develop and mentor associates through proper task delegation, active coaching, and regular performance feedback. * Build and strengthen the team's integration engineering capabilities, including API development, middleware technologies, system integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and enterprise application connectivity. * Foster technical excellence by establishing integration development standards, code review practices, architectural governance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. * Recruit new team members resulting from expansion and/or to backfill attrition within the Applications group, with a focus on integration development, API engineering, and enterprise solution expertise. Manage the Area’s work (60%) * Manage and deliver business objectives supported by the applications, integrations, interfaces, and data exchanges within the assigned area. * Own the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise integration solutions connecting internal applications, cloud services, retail systems, payment platforms, data platforms, and third-party vendor solutions. * Ensure integration architectures, APIs, interfaces, middleware platforms, development standards, and operational processes remain current, effective, secure, and aligned with industry best practices. * Establish governance and monitoring practices for application integrations, including service reliability, performance, scalability, error handling, and supportability. * Lead the planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of complex system-to-system integrations and application modernization initiatives. * Ensure appropriate integration testing, end-to-end validation, deployment planning, and post-implementation support processes are in place for all projects and enhancements. Some of what you need: * Post-secondary education in Computer Science or equivalent working experience in software development. * 5-7 years of project management experience, including the use of project management tools, methodologies, and applications that support the discipline. * 7-10 years of experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and support. * 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise application integrations, APIs, system-to-system interfaces, and data exchange solutions across disparate platforms. * Strong understanding of integration architecture, middleware technologies, messaging frameworks, web services (REST/SOAP), ETL processes, and event-driven integration patterns. * 4+ years of process and software change management experience. * 3-5 years of experience managing or directing peer associates in a lead role. * Experience with software testing methodologies, integration testing, system testing, and release validation processes. * Effective process, procedure, and operational support management. * 5+ years as a software development manager or project manager in a software development capacity. * Experience in the retail sector is preferred, however equivalent experience in other sectors within a software development context will also be considered. Physical demands/working conditions: * Office environment – Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy. * Occasional travel to other Staples Business Units will be required from time to support cross-SBU projects and other initiatives.
