Position Summary Reporting to the Construction Management team, the Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate layout, verification, and as-built survey services to support the successful installation of structural steel. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that field conditions align with project specifications while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and precision. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, detailers, engineers, and installation crews to collect, analyze, and communicate survey data throughout all phases of construction. Key Responsibilities Perform construction layout for structural steel installations using robotic total station technology. Establish and verify control points, gridlines, benchmarks, and reference lines. Complete anchor bolt as-built surveys and verify installation tolerances. Perform column plumbness verification and structural alignment surveys. Conduct elevator shaft analysis and foundation wall clash analysis. Capture field conditions using scanning technology when required. Produce accurate survey reports, layouts, and as-built documentation. Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction plans. Coordinate survey activities with project managers, site supervisors, and field crews. Identify discrepancies between design and field conditions and communicate findings promptly. Maintain detailed survey records and documentation. Ensure all survey equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating correctly. Follow Steelcon quality assurance procedures and all health and safety requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives and best surveying practices. Qualifications Previous experience as a Construction Surveyor or Survey Technician. Experience working on commercial, industrial, or structural steel construction projects is strongly preferred. Registration with OACETT is considered an asset. Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred. Valid driver's licence with the ability to travel to project sites.
