What we offer The Manager, Health & Safety is responsible for building, implementing, administering, and continuously improving a comprehensive Health & Safety program for our multi-site advanced manufacturing start-up. This role is accountable for delivering safety excellence through effective communication, collaboration, and innovative problem solving. This role demonstrates safety leadership by overseeing all health and safety activities in Stelumar’s facilities and worksites, including but not limited to policies, programs, prevention strategies, safety reporting, risk assessments, and auditing. The ideal candidate is people-oriented, relentless in their pursuit of safety excellence, and has experience in both world-class advanced manufacturing organizations and in construction contexts. What you’ll do * Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Stelumar’s Health and Safety Program, including Safe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures, and Site Emergency Response Plans. * Collaborate with Mattamy Homes’ Director of Health & Safety to ensure programs and policies align across the broader organization where appropriate * Communicate and promote Stelumar’s health & safety program across manufacturing facilities and offices, and lead safety initiatives by sharing best practices and lessons learned. * Monitor factory conditions and worker safety performance, conduct regular audits and inspections, and educate employees, contractors, and partners on safety precautions and standards. * Investigate all serious incidents, injuries, and near misses; identify root cause, recommend corrective actions, and report findings to Management and appropriate government authorities in a timely manner. * Ensure that health & safety committees are in place, meeting regularly, and documenting their activities in accordance with OHS requirements. * Proactively identify safety-related risks. * Develop, implement, and audit machine guarding and lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs across automated and robotic production lines. * Liaise with external parties, including government inspectors, sub-contractors, and the public, and represent Stelumar at stakeholder meetings on workplace health and safety matters. * Partner with Facilities to coordinate safety requirements for contractors and vendors and to align on building systems (e.g., fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical) affecting worker and site safety. * When required, assist management with sourcing, training, onboarding, and hiring Health and Safety Representatives. * Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all controlled products. * Manage WSIB claims and the modified duties and return-to-work programs. * Other duties as assigned. What you bring * Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in occupational health & safety. * 5-7 years of progressive health and safety experience, including at least 2 years leading a safety program or team * Experience leading health and safety in advanced manufacturing facilities featuring a high degree of automation and robotics, including working knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and industrial robot safety standards. * Expert knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and return-to-work processes. * Strong leadership skills, with experience coaching and mentoring teams. * Experience investigating, documenting, and reporting workplace incidents and accidents. * Experience building a health & safety program from the ground up. * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). * Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills (written and verbal). * Adaptable and self-motivated, able to build consensus and work effectively both independently and with diverse teams across changing environments. * Willingness to travel regularly between Stelumar's GTA facilities and active construction sites, and to spend significant time on an operating factory floor in required PPE. Bonus Points * Previous experience in manufacturing. Compensation The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills.
