The Opportunity A tariff decision can affect more than an individual shipment. It can shape how an importer handles an entire range of products. This permanent, full-time position offers work across transaction reviews, client advisory assignments and customs verification. You will help importers establish sound compliance records, resolve technical questions and correct issues when they arise. The role is open to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area or in Windsor. The weekday schedule includes four days onsite and one day working remotely. Position Description You will apply customs rules to the practical questions clients and operations colleagues encounter. Researching tariff classifications and maintaining product records that support consistent treatment of imported goods. Reviewing customs transactions before submission and helping address release questions involving other government requirements or special import provisions. Advising on origin, customs value, marking and temporary import requirements. Assessing whether goods qualify for free trade benefits and checking the supporting certificates. Conducting client compliance reviews and assisting with customs authority verifications and follow-up work. Preparing corrections, refund claims and duty drawback claims. Explaining technical requirements to clients and colleagues, including through training sessions. The work calls for defensible decisions and clear explanations. A client should understand both your recommendation and what they need to do next. Experience At least three years of relevant experience in customs coordination, tariff analysis, customs compliance or closely related work. Qualifications You will need working knowledge of Canadian customs requirements, including valuation, GST/HST treatment, temporary imports, special import measures and requirements administered by other government agencies. Strong candidates can research an unfamiliar issue, assess the evidence and reach a practical conclusion. Accuracy matters, as does the ability to explain technical findings clearly in spoken and written English. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. The ability to organize competing assignments and meet firm deadlines. Independent follow-through and sound judgment when resolving problems. A responsive approach to client service, including when a time-sensitive issue needs attention. Education A high school diploma and CCS designation are required. A CTCS designation or relevant professional licence would be an asset. Requirements
