Position Summary Strata Hotel is seeking a dynamic and results-driven hospitality professional to lead our sales efforts and drive new business. This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, relationship-focused, and comfortable taking ownership of the sales process in an independent hotel environment. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Sales will work closely with the Director of Operations and the hotel team to develop new business, strengthen existing relationships, and maximize room, group, meeting, and event revenue. This is a hands-on role well suited to a self-motivated individual who enjoys building relationships, developing business, and being actively involved in the day-to-day operations of a hotel. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed room, group, meeting, and event revenue goals. Proactively pursue new corporate, group, leisure, association, sports, wedding, and social business through prospecting, networking, sales calls, site visits, and community outreach. Identify and develop new market segments and business opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue. Build, maintain, and grow strong relationships with corporate accounts, local businesses, universities, government organizations, sports groups, tourism partners, and other key accounts. Respond to sales inquiries, prepare proposals, conduct site tours, negotiate contracts, and secure business in accordance with hotel policies and profitability objectives. Maintain regular communication with existing clients to encourage repeat business and identify additional opportunities. Represent Strata Hotel at networking events, trade shows, industry functions, community events, and client meetings. Work closely with the General Manager and Director of Operations to ensure group and event commitments can be effectively delivered. Assist with the coordination and follow-up of group and event business from initial booking through arrival and departure. Maintain a strong understanding of the hotel’s products, services, facilities, and competitive positioning. Revenue Management & Reporting Monitor sales performance, group pace, room-night production, event revenue, and market trends. Maintain accurate records of prospects, accounts, sales activities, and business opportunities using the hotel’s existing systems and processes. Prepare sales forecasts, activity reports, account reviews, and revenue projections as required. Monitor competitive market conditions and provide recommendations on pricing, promotions, and sales strategies. Collaborate with the General Manager and Director of Operations to identify opportunities to maximize occupancy, ADR, group production, and overall hotel revenue. Monitor business booked against available inventory and communicate opportunities or concerns to management. Track sales activities and results against established goals and targets. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in hotel sales, corporate sales, group sales, event management, or a related hospitality role. Proven ability to generate new business and develop lasting client relationships. Experience with corporate, group, sports, association, wedding, or social event business is an asset. Strong understanding of hotel sales, group bookings, meeting and event planning, and hospitality operations. Working knowledge of a hotel property management system (PMS), with experience using Opera Cloud strongly preferred. Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, prospecting, and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and priorities independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of CRM or sales management systems is considered an asset; experience with a specific CRM platform is not required. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the General Manager, Director of Operations, and hotel team. Flexibility to attend client meetings, networking functions, and events outside regular business hours when required. Preferred Skills & Attributes Experience in an independent hotel environment. Knowledge of the Kingston and Eastern Ontario hospitality, tourism, corporate, and group markets. Existing relationships within the local business, university, government, sports, tourism, or community sectors are an asset. Strong understanding of local market trends and competitive positioning. Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven. Comfortable working in a small, hands-on hotel environment where collaboration, flexibility, and initiative are essential. Passion for hospitality, sales, relationship building, and delivering exceptional client experiences. Professional, energetic, and personable communication style. Ability to develop new business while working closely with operations to ensure a seamless experience for guests and clients. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. A proactive approach to identifying opportunities rather than waiting for business to come to the hotel. Requirements

Requires 3–5 years of experience in hotel or corporate sales with a proven ability to generate new business. Proficiency in Opera Cloud and Microsoft Office is strongly preferred along with excellent negotiation skills.
