Job summary

The ideal candidate will oversee all tax-related decisions and activities within the organization. This role is focused on domestic tax planning and compliance for a diverse private client base, with exposure to cross-border matters and a close partnership with senior tax leaders. Responsibilities Perform tax research Mentoring junior staff and shaping best practices within the tax group Prepare and review tax returns Identify opportunities to minimize the effective tax rate Lead tax planning and compliance engagements for Canadian individuals and corporations Serve as tax lead on small and medium-sized client files Collaborate with the US Tax Team when cross-border filings are required Plan and organize tax return preparation, and review work for quality Conduct tax research and communicate findings Provide daily coaching and mentoring to junior tax team members Build strong relationships with clients and deliver exceptional service Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance CPA designation Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course is an asset 5-10+ years of experience in public accounting Strong technical expertise in personal, corporate, and trust returns; estate planning; and reorganizations Experience leading client engagements and developing junior staff Proficiency with Taxprep, Caseware, CCH (tax research), and Microsoft Office Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong communication and analytical skills
