The client is seeking a QA Lab Technician to join their Product Development team, reporting to the Director, Product Performance. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving the lab and test areas to support all stakeholder testing requirements, working closely with cross-functional teams across software, firmware, embedded systems, RF engineering, and IT. Key Responsibilities Act as the point person for all lab equipment, including ordering, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and inventory tracking Build new development and product verification fixtures based on hardware and firmware platforms Troubleshoot and maintain existing fixtures using hand tools, soldering equipment, and electrical schematics Install and electrically connect meter sockets to power sources Keep the lab and server room organized, stable, and in good working order Implement processes to improve efficiency, performance, and stability, such as setting up uninterruptible power supplies Perform routine inspections on lab and test equipment to determine maintenance needs Maintain accuracy and calibration of lab and testing equipment, participating in basic quality control procedures Design, assemble, document, and maintain hardware test fixtures for product development and validation Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to improve test coverage and fixture reliability Coordinate lab expansions, equipment upgrades, and workspace improvements Maintain records and track defects through resolution using an issue-tracking system such as Jira Qualifications Technical college diploma 3+ years of experience in a similar laboratory, electronics test, product validation, or engineering support role Solid understanding of electronics, cabling, and fiber Comfortable troubleshooting in a Linux environment and working with custom embedded devices, firmware, hardware, and PC boards Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and signal generators Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB documentation Preferred Skills Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, switches, and wireless networking Experience handling technical assignments involving some complexity and recommending solutions Familiarity with quality and safety programs and documentation practices What Success Looks Like Strong collaboration and customer service skills as a fully engaged team player Thorough, organized, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities Highly curious, motivated, and self-directed approach to problem-solving Good judgment and attention to detail in the execution of assigned tasks
