Job Description: About the role: Reporting to the AVP, Canada Compliance Operations & Governance (“the AVP”), and in collaboration with the Team Lead of Compliance Testing, the Compliance Testing Manager will be primarily responsible for the ongoing management and execution of the Compliance Testing Program (“the Program”) for Sun Life Financial Canada. The role works closely with Business Unit Compliance Officers (BUCO) and their teams, Enterprise Compliance, Operational Risk, and business stakeholders. The incumbent will primarily conduct compliance tests to evaluate key controls against regulations and give informed recommendations for any issues found. What will you do? Design and execute effective test procedures by reviewing and assessing regulatory requirements, policies and procedures, key control processes and documenting work papers. Communicate with stakeholders throughout the review process, including obtaining information necessary to complete the testing, and escalate engagements as required to management. Identify compliance issues and develop recommendations to inform business action plans. Write clear and concise compliance testing reports that document the risk, scope, findings and recommendations. Support the Team Lead in the development of Annual Compliance Test Plans and schedules for each of the Canadian Business Units based on regulatory risk and in collaboration with key stakeholders. Review Compliance Testing program outcomes for trends and opportunities for improvement of the program’s effectiveness, including through development and utilization of AI support tools Maintain effective working relationships with compliance representatives and line management. Contribute to several Compliance projects at any one time with different stakeholders. What do you need to succeed? A minimum of 3-7 years of progressive Compliance Testing or Internal Audit experience that includes working knowledge of audit procedures, planning, testing and sampling methods within a Federally Regulated Financial Institution (i.e. OSFI regulated) or large auditing firm Excellent knowledge of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) programs, risks, controls and testing methodology. Ability to understand and interpret legislation and regulations into business impacts, compliance elements and regulatory risks Knowledge of regulatory requirements and securities laws applicable to financial institutions Knowledge of and experience with developing AI Agents, using GenAI tools, and identifying and deploying innovative solutions to drive efficiency and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills. Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting Finance, or related field. An ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise findings.
