The individual • must have strong clinical assessment skills and organizational abilities to provide a high level of patient care in theimmediate pre-operative and post-operative phase. • The primary responsibility of the RPN includes physical and psychological assessment, instruction and preparation of patients undergoing avariety of surgeries. • The RPN should have an ability to adapt to a fast-changing and stressful environment • And be able to provide physical assistance with patient mobilization, transfers and ambulation. • The RPN will be responsible for providing post-operative health teaching on recovery and pain management. The Same Day RPN must supportthe philosophy of Person- Centred Care and the Mission Vision and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RPN works closely withthe RN and other • Qualifications/Skills • Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration • Diploma in RPN mandatory • Current BCLS certification required • Minimum 1-2 years recent surgical experience required • Successful completion of Physical Assessment course • Venipuncture IV certification and phlebotomy skills required • Successful completion of Medication Administration course • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful environment required • Excellent computer skills required • In-depth knowledge of the effects of General and Regional Anaesthetics • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent time management and organization skills • Proven ability to promote Client Centered Care in a clinic environment
