"NEW" Dedicated Teacher Position (DOT) - George O'Neill Public School The Dedicated Occasional Teacher is a new role within SGDSB that will support George O'Neill Public School. The Teacher will be based out of Nipigon and will be used to support teaching staff who are absent. This role will follow the guidance below as a trial position for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. Regardless of years experience a DOT will be paid according to Step 1 (year one) of their category placement (1,2,3,4) according to QECO. DOT's shall be entitled to Leave Benefits as per Article C9 (LTO) positions. A DOT's schedule workday shall not exceed an Occasional Teacher's workday A DOT shall report to their designated work site each work day and and for each PD day to receive and execute their assigned duties. In the event that no other OT coverage is available on any particular work day, a DOT may be assigned to provide ON-CALL in an emergency situation; up to 1 period of additional instructional time. Any DOT who needs to travel between their assigned homeschool and another school shall be: a) paid mileage as per the Boards mileage policy b)be allowed time to commute safely between sites. A) A DOT may be scheduled to work for a teacher once the available work has been posted to the OT List for at least 4 days first OR is closer than 3 days from the assignment date B) A DOT may be scheduled to work up to a maximum of 5 days in advance A DOT is given an assignment where they are required to design lesson plans, they will be paid their appropriate grid rate as per Article 12. Applications MUST include a resume outlining qualifications, experience and an up-to-date Certificate of Qualification. Applicants must also submit the names of three (3) professional references, one of whom must be a current or most recent immediate supervisor, along with telephone numbers and email addresses, and a written authorization from the applicant permitting the Board to contact these references.
