About the Role SuperQ is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead, scale, and guide the technical direction of the engineering team building the Super Platform,our AI-driven supercomputing environment integrating GPU, quantum, and parallel computing. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of people leadership and deep technical execution. You are a Systems Engineering expert who loves keeping their hands dirty in code, architecture, and infrastructure. You will directly manage a high-caliber team while driving deep expertise in either Backend Engineering, AI Infrastructure Engineering, or DevOps/Platform Engineering to ensure our hybrid classical-quantum stack is highly scalable, resilient, and performant. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of systems, backend, and platform engineers; foster a culture of ownership, high performance, and continuous learning. Hands-on Architecture & Execution: Remain technically active (approx. 50% management, 50% architecture/coding). Design and build robust, low-latency systems-level software to orchestrate heterogeneous compute resources (GPUs, QPUs, and CPUs). Systems Engineering Excellence: Drive the core platform architecture, focusing on distributed systems performance, memory management, high-throughput data streaming, and resource scheduling. Cross-Functional Optimization: Oversee and contribute deeply to at least one of our core pillar tracks: Backend: Scalable microservices, distributed state coordination, and high-performance APIs. AI Engineering: Large-scale GPU cluster orchestration, MLOps pipelines, and low-latency inference infrastructure. DevOps: Multi-cloud/hybrid infrastructure as code, automated hardware provisioning, and advanced CI/CD for complex workloads Delivery & Integration: Work closely with Quantum Algorithm Engineers and domain leads to translate advanced mathematical prototypes into robust, production-ready enterprise services. Agile Operational Ownership: Own the delivery roadmap, sprint planning, engineering metrics, and automated testing frameworks to ensure reliable, continuous deployments. Requirements Experience: 6+ years in a software or systems engineering environment, with at least 2 years of experience formally managing or leading engineering teams in a fast-paced environment. Core Proficiency: Strong background in Systems Engineering (e.g., distributed systems, kernel/OS concepts, concurrency, network protocols, or hardware-software co-design). Deep Domain Expertise: Proven track record and deep hands-on capability in at least one of the following domains: Backend: Mastery of modern languages like Go, Rust, C++, or advanced Python; deep understanding of gRPC, message brokers, and distributed databases. AI Engineering: Experience infrastructure-side with PyTorch, Triton Inference Server, CUDA-accelerated workloads, or orchestration of large-scale model training/deployment environments. DevOps Engineering: Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s) internals, Terraform/OpenTofu, service meshes, and bare-metal or hybrid-cloud infrastructure automation. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). Leadership Style: Strong empathetic leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to align technical teams with broader business strategies.
