Job summary
We are looking for a hands‑on Computer Network Technician to join our field team. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot computer, network and security systems at client sites across the Lower Mainland. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, problem‑solving, and working directly with clients. Key Responsibilities: Install, terminate, and test structured cabling (Cat5e/6/6A, fiber) and network racks. Configure and deploy network devices: switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls. Install and commission CCTV/NVR systems, IP cameras, and related security equipment. Perform site surveys, document network layouts, and prepare as‑built drawings and reports. Troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi‑Fi coverage, and performance issues at client sites. Set up and support client workstations, printers, NAS, and basic server environments. Label, organize, and maintain network rooms and racks to industry best practices. Communicate professionally with clients, provide clear status updates, and complete service reports. Follow health & safety procedures and ensure clean, safe work sites. Required Qualifications & Skills: Post‑secondary diploma/certificate in Computer Networking, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 1–3+ years of experience in network installation, field IT support, or a similar role. Hands‑on experience with: Structured cabling and network rack organization TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and basic routing/switching Wi‑Fi design and troubleshooting (AP mounting, site surveys, signal testing) CCTV/IP camera installation and basic NVR configuration Familiarity with common vendors (e.g., Ubiquiti, Cisco, Aruba, TP‑Link, Hikvision, Dahua, or similar). Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently at client sites. Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel between sites. Good communication skills in English (written and verbal). Preferred (Nice to Have): Industry certifications such as: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CWNA, or equivalent. Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and basic server/Windows/Microsoft 365 environments. Experience creating quotes, reports, and basic network documentation.
