Electrical Design Specialist Position: Electrical Design Specialist Type: Hourly Contract Compensation: $70–$85/hour Location: Remote About the Opportunity This opportunity is for experienced Electrical Design Specialists and Electrical Engineers to contribute to a short-term project focused on electrical design, power systems, and system-level engineering analysis. You'll apply your hands-on industry expertise to analyze technical requirements, evaluate electrical designs, perform engineering calculations, identify design issues, and assess solutions against applicable engineering standards. The role is ideal for professionals with practical experience designing or evaluating real-world electrical systems. Responsibilities Develop, analyze, and evaluate electrical designs based on technical requirements and specifications. Design and review electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and components. Work with power distribution systems, control panels, switchgear, motor control systems, and related equipment. Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documentation. Perform electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and equipment sizing. Evaluate design alternatives, engineering trade-offs, and overall system performance. Identify potential design issues, technical risks, and opportunities for improvement. Review and validate engineering designs, calculations, assumptions, and technical approaches. Ensure proposed solutions align with project requirements and applicable engineering codes and standards. Provide clear technical reasoning and documentation supporting design decisions. Required Qualifications Hands-on professional experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, or Electrical Design Specialist. Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Strong understanding of electrical system design, power systems, and engineering principles. Practical experience designing or evaluating electrical systems in areas such as: Industrial facilities Manufacturing Infrastructure Energy Renewable energy Building services Energy storage Experience with low- and medium-voltage systems, electrical protection, equipment sizing, and power distribution. Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and technical documentation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree or professional engineering certification. Experience performing load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies. Experience specifying and sizing transformers, switchgear, cables, motors, and protection equipment. Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EPLAN, Revit, or equivalent engineering tools. Experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, or control systems. Experience designing electrical systems for manufacturing facilities, data centers, renewable energy projects, or complex infrastructure. Familiarity with applicable electrical standards such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, or equivalent regional standards. Experience reviewing vendor drawings, equipment datasheets, technical submittals, and engineering designs. Strong ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and communicate engineering decisions clearly. Compensation Competitive compensation of $70–$85/hour. Hourly contract engagement. Fully remote.
