Job summary

Overview We are currently seeking highly skilled skaters to join the Skate Crew, Hamilton Hammers. The Skate Crew plays a vital role in both game presentation and fan experience. You will be responsible for fast-paced ice maintenance during media time-outs and assisting with on-ice promotions, all while serving as energetic brand ambassadors for the Hammers. This is a seasonal role from September 2, 2026, and will end no later than June 30, 2027. This role pays an hourly rate of $17.95 CAD This position will remain open until October 23, 2026. Responsibilities Quickly and efficiently shovel/scrape excess snow from the ice surface during designated media time-outs, strictly adhering to AHL timing and safety regulations. Assist the Game Presentation staff with the setup and tear-down of pre-game, intermission, and post-game activities (e.g., rolling out carpets and managing props for sponsor games). Assist ticketing team with group fan experience packages such as anthem flag kids, bench kids, intermission minor hockey etc. Assist with the general organization and maintenance of Skate Crew equipment (shovels, buckets, apparel). Perform other game-day duties as assigned. Qualifications High-level hockey or figure skating experience is required. Must possess strong edge work, balance, and the ability to stop, start, and maneuver quickly while pushing heavy snow and avoiding obstacles. Must be able to work in hockey skates, as figure skates are not permitted on AHL ice surfaces. Must be able to commit to working a minimum of 80% of all Hamilton Hammers home games for the upcoming season. Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the AHL game schedule. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly under pressure in a fast-paced, live-event environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience on a skate crew/ice crew for a hockey program (junior hockey, ECHL, AHL, or NHL). Strong general knowledge of the game of hockey and its rules.
