Role Overview The Director, Property Accounting will lead the end-to-end property accounting function across Taylor’s 3rd party management portfolio. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting practices and controls, and delivering a high level of service to internal and external stakeholders. This full-time hybrid role is based out of our modern, eco-friendly office in Markham, Ontario located near Hwy 7 & 404. Key Partnerships and Priorities As a key business partner to Property Management, and Finance leadership, the Director will provide insight, guidance, and financial information that supports strong decision-making. The Director will be primarily responsible for the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the various ownership groups on behalf of the finance team – whether that be electronic delivery, virtual or in-person presentations. The role also will focus on strengthening accounting processes, enhancing reporting practices, and building a high-performing team aligned with Taylor+ growth objectives. Key Responsibilities · Direct management of and development of the Taylor financial team. · Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. · Lead year-end processes, including tenant billings, reconciliations, and audit support. · Prepare, review, and present financial reporting packages for senior management and third-party owners. · Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and related reporting processes. · Support and lead accounting activities related to real estate portfolio transactions. · Develop, maintain, and review Taylor’s accounting policies, procedures, and controls. · Ensure compliance with lease agreements, management agreements, and internal accounting policies. · Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and team effectiveness. Professional Requirements and Experience · CPA designation with 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial real estate property accounting. · Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. · Demonstrated experience leading and developing property accounting teams. · In-depth knowledge of property accounting, CAM, taxes, recoveries, and related reporting requirements. · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. · Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the company. · Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. · Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, delivering presentations, and facilitating meetings. · Experience working with Yardi is preferred.
