Job summary

Position Summary: The Associate Controller role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while driving insights that support operations, tenant performance, and long-term portfolio value. The role collaborates closely with Controller, Income Producing Properties, asset management, property management, and corporate finance teams to provide leadership in accounting practices, internal controls, and portfolio-level analysis. Key Responsibilities: • Team building and collaboration. • Excellent communicator. • Problem solver. Financial Reporting & Oversight • Assist in leading the periodic reporting processes for the income producing portfolio. • Review the accuracy of income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules. • Assist in leading/coordinating to ensure timely internal/external reporting, including, but not limited to partnership reports, periodic distributions, and internal financial statement filings. Portfolio Management Support • Partner with property management team to analyze property-level performance versus budget, forecast, and underwriting. • Provide insights into net operating income (NOI) trends, variances, and opportunities to enhance returns. • Assist in the development of tools and reporting to track leasing activity, occupancy, rent collection, and tenant exposure. Controls & Compliance • Internal control and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. • Monitor covenant compliance, debt reporting, and joint-venture reporting requirements. • Periodic account reconciliations (AP, AR, and Inter-companies) and timely clearing of any outstanding. Leadership & Collaboration • Assist with supervising, mentoring, and developing the property accounting team. • Collaborate with property management teams to ensure alignment of operational and financial data (goal congruency). • Consult with tax, treasury, and corporate accounting teams on matters that affect the portfolio. Strategic & Special Projects • Support system implementations, process improvements, and other initiatives. • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend digital tools that improve the reporting and accounting process. • Support the acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing activities. • Contribute to annual business planning, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning. Qualifications: • CPA designation (required) • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within Real Estate. • Direct real estate development and property accounting experience required (industrial, office, retail, or multi-family) • Strong experience with property-level reporting and multi-entity structures • Strong financial reporting and consolidation expertise Compensation: Salary is $130,000 - $140,000 Discretionary Annual Bonus Benefits
