Job Title: SDET - Desktop Application Testing & Automation Job Type: T4 Contract Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Hybrid) Experience: 1 to 2 Years Rate: 40 to 45 CAD PH Role Summary We are hiring for this role, where the selected candidate will work on a project focused on desktop application installation and quality engineering. You ll help ensure reliable and smooth installation experiences while contributing to test automation and quality improvements. Key Responsibilities Work with the team to ensure high-quality desktop installation experiences across different scenarios. Participate in requirement analysis, test planning, execution, and defect tracking. Build and maintain automated tests for installer-related workflows. Validate workflows such as installation, upgrade, patching, repair, rollback, and uninstallation. Test installer behavior across different Windows environments, system settings, and user permissions. Investigate and reproduce reported issues and collaborate with developers to resolve them. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes through automation and better tooling. Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to support product quality. Must-Have Skills Experience in desktop application testing. Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Groovy, or Shell). Good understanding of software testing fundamentals, including defect lifecycle and test design. Solid understanding of Windows OS fundamentals (file system, registry, services, processes, permissions). Experience testing Windows installer packages or desktop applications. Knowledge of MSI, bootstrapper-based installers, and silent installation. Hands-on experience with test automation development. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Nice-to-Have Skills Familiarity with Windows diagnostics and troubleshooting tools. Exposure to CI/CD tools like Jenkins. Basic understanding of the Microsoft .NET platform.
