About The Role We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Specialist / Data Scientist to support an initiative with one of our public sector client.. This role will focus on designing and developing analytical data products and services that help government teams leverage data to improve policy, decision-making, and services for Albertans. The successful candidate will bring strong experience across machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, statistical analysis, data modelling, data engineering, and analytical product development. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement machine learning and AI models for complex business and public-sector challenges. Analyze large and complex datasets to generate actionable insights for policy and service delivery. Determine when and how machine learning should be applied, including identifying data and technical prerequisites. Develop data collection, normalization, cleaning, and preparation processes. Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modelling. Build analytical models, algorithms, reports, dashboards, and data products. Apply statistical and data-mining techniques such as k-means clustering, hierarchical clustering, partition trees, and logistic regression. Train, evaluate, and integrate ML models into applications and analytical solutions. Support data modelling, de-identification, synthetic data creation, and data-linkage initiatives. Work with data engineers, analysts, business teams, and technical stakeholders on cross-functional projects. Translate complex business questions into analytical and technical solutions. Provide guidance, coaching, and technical leadership on the application of ML and AI. Develop auditing, accountability, transparency, privacy, and ethical mechanisms for ML solutions. Gather and document business and technical requirements and metadata for ML products. Present analytical findings and recommendations to business and technical stakeholders. Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and dependencies as required. Work effectively within a multi-vendor and multi-disciplinary environment. Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent education may be considered. 6+ years of experience using statistical and computer programming languages for analytical work. 6+ years of experience building analytical and quantitative models. 6+ years of experience preparing data for predictive and prescriptive modelling. 6+ years of experience with different approaches and methods for data analysis and modelling. 6+ years of experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) to real-world problems. Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data science, machine learning, and data mining techniques. Experience working with large and complex datasets. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams. Nice-to-Have Qualifications 5+ years of experience with data sharing, data linkage, de-identification, metadata, or related data governance practices. 5+ years of experience combining raw data from multiple sources and across different domains. 5+ years of experience understanding complex business questions and translating them into analytical solutions. 5+ years of experience developing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models. 6+ years of experience applying statistical and data-mining techniques to complex problems. 4+ years of experience working with large government datasets. Experience with data strategy, data products, data architecture, or AI/ML application development. Experience working within privacy, security, and regulatory environments.

Requirements
