Job details
Senior QA Automation Engineer Hybrid / Contract (6 Months) About the Company A growing SaaS company that builds financial software for the education sector. Its cloud platform handles payments, accounting and reporting for thousands of schools across North America. Schools rely on it every day, so reliability and security come before everything else. The company is scaling its engineering organization and investing heavily in modern cloud infrastructure and data-driven product development. The Role This is a hands-on senior role that covers both functional and automation testing across a production SaaS platform. You’ll own quality from requirements review through release. That means designing test cases, building and stabilizing automation, and checking APIs and back-end data. The ideal candidate catches defects before code is written and works closely with Product, Engineering, Design and DevOps inside each sprint. What You Will Do Review user stories and acceptance criteria early, and turn them into functional, regression, smoke and exploratory test coverage Build and extend UI, API and end-to-end automation in Playwright and Selenium, focused on the workflows customers depend on most Test REST APIs for correct responses, data contracts and error handling, covering positive, negative and edge cases with Playwright and Postman Run automated suites in Azure DevOps pipelines, investigate failures, and give engineering clear explanations of what broke and why Write SQL to check transactional data on the back end, create test data, and confirm test environments are ready What You Bring 5+ years in software QA across functional, regression, integration and system testing, plus a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field A strong record of building and maintaining reliable automation suites with Playwright and Selenium Hands-on API testing and automation experience with Playwright and Postman Strong SQL, including joins and aggregations used to check data against back-end systems Experience testing inside Agile sprints using Jira and Confluence, plus working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) Exposure to JMeter, BrowserStack, accessibility testing or AI-assisted testing tools is a plus. Why This Role You’ll test financial software that schools use every day, in a role where you shape quality from the first story review rather than just running test plans. The position is hybrid, with three days a week in the Toronto office. It includes retirement savings matching, flexible time off and funded professional development.
