Also prepares reports and project documents, maintains records, and performs drafting and other entry-level engineering support tasks.

Coordinates transportation and highway maintenance projects, inspects roadways, bridges, and construction work, and helps ensure safe traffic control and quality standards. The role also supports project planning, budgets, staff training, maintenance materials purchasing, and responses to traffic-related complaints.

Inspect highway, bridge, traffic signal, and airport construction to ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and safety requirements. Document progress, coordinate with engineers and contractors, resolve construction issues, and, at Level II, lead and mentor other inspectors and support project reviews and engineering activities.
