Department highlights: · Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth Paramedics work closely with physicians, RNs, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams as valued members of the interdisciplinary ED care team · Hospital-based paramedics function within a defined ED-specific scope of practice, performing advanced clinical skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with Texas Health Resources protocols · Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team · Fast-Paced, high-volume department averaging 100 - 200 patients/day · The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations. What You Will Do Provides Safe Patient Care Under Physician Delegation: · Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications. ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations. All IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs. Here’s What You Need · High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required · 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship, required. 1 year Paramedic experience in EMS or Fire Dept preferred · EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or · LP - Licensed Paramedic · ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days of hire required and · BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and · PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 days of hire required and · CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED Only), within 60 days of hire required.
What you’ll do
Provides safe patient care under physician delegation in a high-volume Emergency Department, including administering medications and managing IVs. Performs advanced clinical skills such as airway insertion, defibrillation, and electronic health record documentation.
Requirements
Requires a high school diploma and a Paramedic certification (EMT-P or LP) with at least 3 months of experience or internship completion. Must obtain ACLS, BCLS, PALS, and CPI certifications within specified timeframes after hire.
