About the Role Lambton Emergency Medical Services (LEMS) is currently accepting applications from third- and fourth-semester Paramedic students who are interested in participating in our Student-to-Practice Program. This Student-To-Practice program provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical and operational experience while working alongside and under the mentorship of experienced Lambton EMS Paramedics at various station locations throughout the service. Participants will receive ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and access to continuing education opportunities designed to support their professional growth and development. Placements will be offered between November 2026 and April 2027 in coordination with participating colleges. As placement opportunities are limited, the selection process is competitive, and not all applicants will be offered a placement within the service. While participation in the Student-to-Practice Program does not guarantee future employment with Lambton EMS, students who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to carry forward their testing and interview scores for consideration during the Spring 2027 recruitment process. Duties and Responsibilities Under the guidance and supervision of a Paramedic Preceptor, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care and supporting operational readiness through the following duties: • Assess, interpret, and evaluate patient vital signs, symptoms, medical history, incident details, and survey findings, while prioritizing multiple patient care situations in accordance with Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Patient Care Standards. • Perform authorized medical interventions, including medication administration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fracture and spinal immobilization, operation of manual defibrillators and mechanical devices, suctioning procedures, wound care, hemorrhage control, and treatment of injuries and medical conditions. • Collaborate with allied agencies to obtain, share, and document relevant patient and incident information, ensuring accurate communication with appropriate medical authorities. • Receive and implement medical directives and treatment instructions from designated medical authorities to ensure appropriate patient care. • Safely transfer and transport patients from a variety of positions, environments, and situations using approved patient movement equipment, including stretchers, stair chairs, and other specialized devices. • Maintain ambulance equipment and supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels and secure storage at all times. • Adhere to required medication dispensing, documentation, and controlled substance accountability procedures, including drug count protocols. • Perform housekeeping and maintenance duties within ambulance stations and vehicles to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment. • Conduct routine and deep cleaning of ambulances, equipment, and related operational resources in accordance with infection prevention and control standards. Supervision Requirements Direct Supervision: None Indirect Supervision: None Functional Authority: None What We Are Looking For Minimum Formal Education • Successful completion of the first three semesters (didactic portion) of an accredited Paramedic Program and current enrollment in the fourth semester. • To have academic certification through the Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program (SWORBHP); Results of successful certification must be received no later than January 15, 2027. Additional Credentials • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification issued within the past 12 months. • A current and complete immunization record that meets the requirements outlined in the Ontario Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standards, Version 2.1, Table 1, Part A. • A Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the previous 90 days and satisfactory to the employer. Requirements

Candidates must be currently enrolled in the fourth semester of an accredited Paramedic program and have completed the first three semesters. Additional requirements include valid CPR certification, a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check, and immunization compliance.
