Job summary

Bilingual Underwriting Trainee Location: Hybrid - Kingston, ON or Montreal, QC Empire life is looking to hire two Underwriting Trainees to join our Retail Underwriting team! The Underwriting Trainee works to become an underwriter through self-study and on-the-job training. In addition, you will be actively involved in the underwriting process, basic decision-making and the assessment of risk. The selected candidates are guided by defined procedural constraints and work under the moderate supervision of the Manager, Underwriting. As an Underwriting Trainee, you’ll learn how to review life insurance applications while analyzing, assessing, evaluating, and quantifying risk based on several factors such as medical history, financials, and other determining factors. This is a paid program as you will be reviewing live cases and shadowing colleagues leading up to more independent underwriting towards the end of the training. We’re looking for individuals who are driven, collaborative, and analytical with sound decision making to kick start their underwriting careers. The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $51,120 - $75,615.The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
