Job details
We're looking for a hybrid HR Generalist in the non-profit sector. Our client is a highly respected Alberta organization that plays a meaningful role in supporting children, families, and communities across the province. Located in Edmonton's University District, this is an opportunity to join a collaborative, values-driven team where people genuinely care about the impact of their work. Known for its strong leadership, positive culture, and commitment to continuous improvement, the organization offers an environment where HR is viewed as a true strategic partner. Reporting to the CFO, the HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource to employees and leaders, supporting day-to-day HR operations while helping strengthen programs, processes, and employee engagement across the organization. HR Generalist Responsibilities: Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, onboarding, and hiring processes. Deliver responsive employee support and serve as a trusted resource for HR-related questions, escalating sensitive matters as appropriate. Administer employee onboarding, benefits, HRIS, and employee records processes. Coordinate annual performance review and merit review processes, including communications, tracking, reporting, and system administration. Support employee engagement initiatives, learning and development activities, surveys, and recognition programs. Prepare HR metrics and reports, identify trends, and recommend improvements to HR programs and processes. Lead or support HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, and organizational initiatives while ensuring effective communication and implementation. The Successful Candidate Has: 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or operational HR capacity. Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. CPHR designation (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred. Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and HR programs. Strong relationship-building, coaching, communication, and organizational skills. Experience within a non-profit, public-sector, healthcare, or mission-driven organization is considered an asset. Knowledge of HRIS platforms and HR best practices, with the ability to balance independent decision-making with appropriate escalation. Compensation and Benefits: The discussed salary range is $72,000 - $80,000, depending on experience. Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered. Comprehensive benefits package, including a Health Spending Account and pension program. Three weeks of vacation, plus personal days. Free parking and access to additional on-site wellness amenities and employee perks. Hybrid work environment, with three required in-office days per week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Only candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be contacted.
