Project Horizon In 2015, SickKids launched Project Horizon, a long-term plan for the renewal of the SickKids campus and the foundation for an integrated and seamless paediatric healthcare system. Project Horizon is a multi-year, phased redevelopment initiative designed to transform the delivery of paediatric care, address future growth requirements, and replace aging infrastructure. Through strategic investments in facilities, technology, and new models of care, Project Horizon will help ensure SickKids can continue to deliver world-class, specialized paediatric care for generations to come. Following completion of the Patient Support Centre (PSC), Project Horizon continues to advance a multi-phased redevelopment strategy that includes new construction, major renovations, infrastructure renewal, and operational transformation initiatives across the SickKids campus. Current priorities include the Ambulatory Care Tower (ACT), prioritized Early Works projects, operational readiness planning, and activities supporting future phases of redevelopment. The construction and renovation of these facilities represent only one aspect of the transformation. Project Horizon is also focused on advancing new models of care, enhancing operational effectiveness, enabling innovation through technology, and fostering meaningful engagement with patients, families, staff, physicians, learners, researchers, and partners. As a member of the Project Horizon Clinical Reinvention Team (CRT), the Project Manager partners with clinical and operational leaders, patient and family advisors, consultants, and project partners to support redevelopment planning and implementation activities that will enable future models of care. The Project Manager serves as a bridge between end users, project teams, and consultants, ensuring clinical and operational requirements are effectively translated into planning, design, and readiness activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management capabilities, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate complex redevelopment initiatives with multiple competing priorities. Here's What You'll Get To Do Collaborate with teams through all stages of redevelopment planning and implementation, including clinical planning, design development, operational readiness, activation, transition planning, training, and post-occupancy evaluation. Lead and support clinical and operational planning activities across Project Horizon redevelopment initiatives, including new construction, renovation, infrastructure renewal, operational readiness, and transition activities. Work with and manage advisors, consultants, architects, functional programmers, and hospital stakeholders supporting clinical planning, design development, and operational readiness activities. Support procurement activities and onboarding of consultants and advisors required to advance Project Horizon planning and implementation initiatives. Lead user group meetings, workshops, simulations, and stakeholder engagement activities with clinical teams, operational leaders, patient and family advisors, and consultants. Translate clinical, operational, patient, and family requirements into planning, design, operational readiness, and implementation strategies. Support operational readiness, activation, and transition planning activities, including workflow redesign, readiness assessments, implementation planning, issue management, and training coordination. Review drawings, reports, planning documentation, and consultant deliverables to ensure completeness, alignment with hospital standards, and achievement of project objectives. Develop and maintain project workplans, risks, issues, decision logs, and action tracking associated with assigned initiatives. Collaborate closely with Delivery Project Managers, PCIO, Information Management and Technology (IMT), Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E), Supply Chain, Facilities, and other enabling teams to support integrated planning and project execution. Ensure project documentation is maintained in accordance with established Project Horizon and organizational document management standards. Work closely with Clinical Reinvention Team members and project partners to ensure integration and coordination across multiple workstreams and disciplines. Translate complex information into practical recommendations, reports, and executive-ready materials for leadership, clinicians, and operational stakeholders. Support change management activities and foster a culture of inclusive engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement. Support simulation-based planning and testing activities to inform design decisions, workflow development, and operational readiness. Utilize data, evidence, and stakeholder feedback to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Other duties may be required to support the objectives, priorities, and deliverables of Project Horizon. Here's What You'll Need A bachelor's degree in the sciences, healthcare, nursing, or other allied health disciplines, or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience. A minimum of 5 years as a Project Manager in a healthcare setting with extensive experience supporting increasingly complex planning, or management of clinical or clinical support programs. Demonstrated knowledge of clinical care and operations (e.g. operational requirements of an ambulatory clinic), and hunger for self-directed learning to fill knowledge gaps. Experience supporting operational readiness, activation, transition planning, healthcare transformation, or major healthcare redevelopment initiatives is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability for critical and strategic thinking. Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proactive with an ability to anticipate needs. Demonstrated effectiveness at leading and working with high performing teams. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment with shifting priorities. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with broader team goals. Experience contributing to cross-functional projects, ensuring both personal and team success. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to successfully build relationships, resolve conflict, and drive towards consensus. Demonstrated ability to develop effective and comprehensive reports and presentations for various audiences, including executives, administrators, and clinicians. Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives. PMP Certification or Foundation of Project Management Certification is an asset. Experience participating in and/or managing user engagement during a hospital capital redevelopment project is an asset. Knowledge of, and experience with the Ministry of Health's capital planning process is an asset. Knowledge of alternate financing and procurement models, including Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) delivery, and associated design development processes is an asset. Experience/exposure to process improvement and/or human-centered design thinking and/or simulation for design is an asset.
