About the Opportunity Our client, a well established insurance carrier with a growing finance team, is looking for an analyst to join on a 12-18 month contract. This is a hands on financial accounting role supporting reinsurance processes and working closely with the underwriting team, with real opportunity to make an impact through process improvement and account cleanup work. This role reports into an AVP and sits within a finance team of 30+, in an organization currently going through an ownership transition, making this a great opportunity to get in front of change and grow with the team. What You'll Do Prepare and process journal entries Follow up with reinsurers on outstanding items Work closely with the underwriting team to support accurate, timely reporting Ensure invoices are paid with proper backup documentation and approvals Support cleanup and organization of older account items Identify and help implement process improvements and automation opportunities Support month end, quarter end, and year end close, including some overtime as needed What You'll Need Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience within the insurance industry, ideally 3+ years at one organization Working knowledge of reinsurance Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs (macros an asset) General ledger experience on any major ERP system A track record of improving processes or driving efficiency within an accounting function Strong communication skills and comfort working cross functionally Nice to Have CPA designation or Big 4 background Experience with account cleanup or reconciliation projects What Success Looks Like Someone who is coachable, collaborative, and comfortable in a smaller team environment where responsibilities can overlap. Adaptable to a changing environment and willing to step outside a narrowly defined scope when needed.
