Role Description The Kitchen Assistant is a part-time, on-site role based in Markham, ON, supporting daily food preparation and service for the tea shop. Responsibilities include assisting with baking and cooking, preparing ingredients, and ensuring dishes are presented consistently and on time. The role involves maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, following hygiene and safety standards, and supporting the smooth flow of service during busy periods. The Kitchen Assistant may also help with basic dishwashing, restocking supplies, and coordinating with front-of-house team members to meet customer needs. Qualifications Food Preparation and Cooking skills to support baking, high tea service, and consistent dish quality. Knowledge of Hygiene and Food & Beverage standards to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment. Customer Service skills to collaborate with front-of-house staff and contribute to a welcoming guest experience. Ability to work efficiently in a small team, follow instructions, and manage time during peak service hours. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn traditional tea room practices. Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
