Job Description Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis. Accountabilities Assist with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution. Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using program vehicle. Assist with set up and take down of toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre. Assist with sorting toy donations. Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner. May assist in the Kettle campaign where needed. Perform other related duties as required. Working Conditions This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) in a safe manner. The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Education, Qualifications And Certifications Completed High School or equivalent Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset. Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs Skills And Capabilities Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Ability to work with minimal supervision Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Honest, courteous, and punctual Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
