Job Description POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: This role is responsible for serving and maintaining the dining room, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and providing general support to the kitchen operations. The role contributes to the broader mission and values of The Salvation Army, upholding standards of service that reflect its spiritual and social commitment to the community. Accountabilities Incumbents may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below. Set up dining room and serve meals. Maintain dining room tables and chairs in a clean and tidy condition at all times. Sweep and wash all floors in kitchen, stockroom, kitchen washroom, walk-in fridge and dining room. Clean all assigned kitchen areas such as windows, baseboards, tables, chairs, walls, floors, kitchen, equipment, stoves, fryers, ovens and washrooms and associated storage areas daily. Wash, dry, and store all kitchen and food preparation dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Restock washroom supplies and cleaning supplies daily. Apply proper lifting and carrying techniques for heavy items to avoid physical strain or injury. Complete the established daily assigned routine tasks. May assist in preparation of simple meals and drinks. Maintain the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness while performing all duties. Adhere to safe food handling procedures, including proper storage, preparation, and cooking methods to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses. Operate all kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, adhering to proper usage guidelines to prevent accidents. Represent the organization in a respectful and professional manner, reflecting the mission and values of The Salvation Army. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Critical Relationship Management Internal: Ministry Unit leadership, dining room staff, kitchen staff, volunteers. External: Clients, vendors, community members. Managerial Responsibilities Reports directly to the __Food Services Manager___. Financial And Materials Management Assist with receiving and stocking food and kitchen supply orders. Safe usage and maintenance of food service facilities and equipment. Working Conditions Work duties are mostly performed indoors. The role required bending, kneeling, or stooping when required to lift items such as loads of dishes, kitchen tools, machinery, and food preparation equipment. Long periods of standing on hard surfaces are required; carrying/lifting/moving up to 30 lbs; unpacking delivery vehicles. Education And Experience Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Some high school completion. Standard First Aid, CPR and AED or willingness to obtain. Experience And Knowledge Requirements Up to 3 months of related experience. An alternative level or combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Skills And Capabilities Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Good oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing circumstances. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Demonstrated patience, understanding, and professionalism in all interactions. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $19.21 to $19.21 with a maximum of $19.21. Requirements

Some high school completion is required, along with up to three months of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is required or must be obtained, and candidates should be able to follow safety procedures, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively.
