Accountabilities Job Description: Client Care: Actively supervise residents in the facility and in the community as required in a lawful, safe, and expedient manner. Monitor the activities of the clients and maintain availability for personal, practical, and moral support. Participate in development and implementation of case plans. Report to Caseworker client progress, changes and/or regression in the client’s status. Complete duties, reports, and logs as per shift description. Deal with interpersonal relationships within Cuthbert House in a therapeutic manner. Challenge and address criminal conduct and thinking. Assist clients to address their criminogenic issues as required. Refer clients to outside resources and counseling when needed. Follow policies and procedures of Cuthbert House, The Salvation Army and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Health & Safety: Assume delegated responsibility for the facility when assigned. Deal with serious incidents and crisis in a safe and therapeutic manner. Communicate and enforce facility rules while maintaining discipline and safety. Supervise the delivery of medication and ensure residents are provided with appropriate medical attention as required. Maintain a high level of client care and complete duties in the facility such as housekeeping, serving meals etc. Participate as an active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: None Internal Leadership, Staff, Clients, Students, Volunteers External MCCSS Personnel, Community Partners. Managerial/Technical Leadership Responsibility Reports directly to: Director. The Senior Case Manager functions as a team lead providing direction on tasks and support to this position. Direct reports for this position: None. Financial And Materials Management Responsible for the safekeeping of materials and equipment for own use. Does not process any financial transactions WORKING CONDITIONS Working environment is typically in the facility in generally agreeable conditions. Regular travel to and from scheduled and unscheduled appointments (20% travel). May encounter hostile clients. Some unscheduled overtime maybe associated with this position. Works rotational shifts. Education And Experience Qualifications Completion of a formal post-secondary/college diploma program of 2 academic years in Social Service Work, Corrections, and/or Childcare. First Aid & CPR Training. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate or willingness to obtain. Drivers license. Food Handling Certificate. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements More than 1 year of prior related experience in in the Corrections field. Experience working with youth is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Fluency in the French language preferred. Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Skills And Capabilities Strong written and verbal communication skills - clear and simple to understand Able to proactively recognize potential risks and issues, respond with solutions. Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $24.47 to $30.59 with a maximum of $36.71. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role. Requirements

Requires a two-year post-secondary diploma in Social Service Work, Corrections, and/or Childcare, First Aid and CPR training, a driver's license, and a Food Handling Certificate; a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate is required or must be obtained. More than one year of related corrections experience is required, with youth experience preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required, and French fluency is preferred.
