The Shop Foreman must promote a safety-first environment and serve as a mentor to junior technicians while liaising with operations and fleet management. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on trucks and trailers, identifying mechanical issues and recommending solutions. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including brakes, suspension, driveline, electrical systems, and refrigeration units (where applicable). Use TMT maintenance software to log repairs, service tasks, and parts used, ensuring accurate, up-to-date maintenance records. Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored and maintained appropriately. Reinforce safety protocols and assist in onboarding and orienting new technicians to company procedures and expectations. Collaborate with drivers and operations teams to identify recurring mechanical issues and propose preventative strategies. Stay current with industry practices, emerging technologies, and OEM service updates. Follow all company policies regarding health, safety, and environmental compliance. Qualifications Licensed Truck and Trailer Mechanic (Red Seal Certification preferred or applicable provincial certification). Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty truck and trailer repair; 2+ years in a supervisory or lead technician role preferred. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools. Valid driver’s licence (Class 5 required; Class 1 or 3 considered an asset). Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coach, mentor, and lead a high-performing shop team.

Requirements

Requires a licensed Truck and Trailer Mechanic, with Red Seal certification preferred or applicable provincial certification, and at least five years of heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience. A minimum of two years in a supervisory or lead technician role is preferred, along with strong systems knowledge, diagnostic tool proficiency, a valid Class 5 driver's licence, and leadership and communication skills.
