Job summary
The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving, storing, and distributing raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished products throughout the machine shop. This position supports production operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately and on time to machining centers, assembly areas, and shipping locations while maintaining inventory accuracy and workplace safety. Specialty Manufacturing is offering two options for shifts for our Material Handling Team: 6:00AM-2:30PM or 2:00PM- 10:30PM. The 2nd shift option offers a shift differential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transport raw materials, parts, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, or other material-handling equipment. Supply machine operators with necessary materials, tools, and components to maintain production schedules. Load and unload deliveries and verify quantities against receiving documents. Stage materials for production jobs according to work orders and production schedules. Move completed parts to inspection, secondary operations, assembly, or shipping departments. Maintain accurate inventory records through barcode scanning, ERP systems, or inventory tracking procedures. Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory audits. Organize and maintain stock locations, racks, bins, and storage areas. Package, label, and prepare products for shipment. Follow all safety procedures related to material handling, forklift operation, and warehouse activities. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment following 5S and lean manufacturing practices. Report damaged materials, inventory discrepancies, and safety concerns to supervisors. Support other shop and warehouse functions as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, or material handling environment preferred. Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely. Basic math and counting skills with attention to detail. Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, and inventory records. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Forklift certification. Experience using ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and machine shop operations. Experience with barcode scanners and computerized inventory systems. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Ability to safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment. Expected Compensation Range: Non-Exempt- $19-$23 per hour Specialty Manufacturing is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position. Based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, compensation could fall slightly below or above the stated range..
