We prioritize integrity, quality, and community. Work Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic ensures timely mechanical repairs on equipment for Taggart Construction projects. Repairs are recorded according to shop practices and comply with Health and Safety policy Major Responsibilities: Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy duty equipment. Complete documentation accurately and on time. Communicate with Forepersons and Superintendents regarding repair urgency and needs. Coordinate with Equipment Manager in Ottawa for updates and delivery dates. Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment. Perform other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum three years' experience in hydraulic and hystat repair and maintenance. Experience with bulldozers, cranes, graders, tractors, off-road haulers, and earth movers. Journeyman certification preferred or Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic (421A)). In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment. Mechanical and mathematical aptitude. Attention to detail. Physical strength and stamina (lifting up to 40 lbs). Openness to learning new technologies and techniques. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver’s license. 410T license is a bonus Work Environment May require working outdoors and on-site in difficult weather conditions. Working below heavy equipment. Travel may be required. Manual dexterity required. Overtime as required. Physical/Sensory Effort Handling multiple deadlines. Sitting or standing for long periods. Service to several people or departments.
