Job summary

Own the visual direction for an indie sci-fi tactics game and create game-ready units, terrain, props, structures, tilesets, UI elements, and icons that remain clear at gameplay scale. Deliver organized, engine-ready assets, coordinate with other disciplines, and communicate regularly with the producer and team.

Job details

Threeclipse is tentatively looking for two Canadian pixel artists or 2D game asset artists for a fixed-term contract in early 2027 (about 32 weeks, around 20 hours per week). The project is a sci-fi tactics game. On a tactics map, the art has to tell the player what they're looking at in a single glance: which unit is which, what can be crossed, what's in cover, what's a threat. We're looking for artists who design for that first and polish second. What you'll do Take ownership of art direction for an indie game title. Create game-ready units, terrain tiles, props and structures that read clearly at gameplay scale. Create tilesets that sit together cleanly on a grid. Create UI elements and icons that hold up at small sizes Create assets that drop into the engine as delivered: consistent sizes, clean edges, organized files Report to the producer and coordinate with other disciplines Maintain frequent communication through Discord What we're looking for A portfolio of in-game assets, not only character illustrations or splash art Strong pixel art or 2D game art fundamentals, with a clear eye for silhouette, contrast and readability Ability to create limited animation (Spine or frame-by-frame) Experience making tiles or assets that work together as a set Clear communication, patience with iteration, and the ability to take ownership of a game's visual look Sci-fi environments, vehicles or mechanical designs are a plus IMPORTANT Fully remote, Canadian citizens permanent residents only. You will be asked to share proof of citizenship/residency. We do not accept AI-generated or -assisted content for production. You will be occasionally required to do timelapse videos of the creation of the assets.
