Thyssen Mining’s history in North America began in the 1960s when the Thyssen business in Germany exported its knowledge of shaft sinking and ground freezing to Canada to service the potash industry in Saskatchewan. In the mid-1990s, TMCC saw opportunities in the western United States, particularly in the gold sector and particularly in Nevada. The U.S. operation was conducted as a branch operation of TMCC, which was a suitable structure for a burgeoning U.S. business. Early in the second decade of the 2000s, the future of the U.S. market looked promising with work available in Nevada, Alaska, New Mexico, and other states. Thyssen Mining Inc. (“TMI”) was established as a subsidiary of TMCC. Following its inception, TMI completed successful shaft sinking, decline, development, and cavern projects. Thyssen Mining is currently seeking Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics for one of our projects located in Ontario. This is a fly in/fly out position operating on a 14 x 14 schedule (2 weeks on 2 weeks off). If you are a detailed orientated and energetic Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic, we want to hear from you! The applicant’s responsibilities could include the following: * Install, troubleshoot, maintain, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, mechanical power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, programmable logic controls and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools. * Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery. * Participation in the preparation of procedures and following of procedures in the course of their work * Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. * Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools. * Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. * Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment. * Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. * Facilitate and lead a safe work culture. * Track and find parts. * Service attachments and working tools. The ideal candidate would possess: * Interprovincial Red Seal Ticket * Experience working on underground mining equipment is an asset but not required Thyssen Mining offers a competitive comprehensive compensation package including medical, dental, group RSP and life insurance.
