Job summary

Thyssen Mining is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Coordinator to support one of our projects in British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and company standards, and supporting the health and safety performance of underground mining projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, legislation, and safe work practices. * Report findings and recommend corrective actions to site and senior management. * Assist with the administration of WorkSafeBC claims, return-to-work, and modified-duty programs. * Conduct and/or oversee incident investigations and communicate recommendations across project sites. * Ensure company health, safety, environmental, and operational policies are consistently implemented and followed. * Develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities. * Support ongoing safety training, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification programs. * Maintain required certifications and stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes. * Complete all required corporate safety and cybersecurity training. * Promote Thyssen Mining's commitment to safety, operational excellence, and client service. QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator in the mining or construction industry. * Experience supporting underground mining operations. * Working knowledge of the British Columbia Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and applicable mining regulations. * Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up. * Experience managing WorkSafeBC claims and return-to-work programs. * Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence. * Ability to travel to project site. PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS * Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 or 3. * COR Internal Auditor Training. * NCSO, CRSP, or other recognized safety designation (asset). KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES * Strong commitment to workplace health and safety. * Excellent organizational and time-management skills. * Strong verbal and written communication abilities. * Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical personnel. * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. * Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced mining environment.
